About Blake
A songwriter, actor, vocalist, and theatre educator, with supreme soul. Unpredictable, yet fluid, and freely authentic. Blake creates experiences that reawaken our strong bonds to the earth and humanity. He has starred in the shows 'Wicked' and 'Mamma Mia!' on Broadway.
As a singer/songwriter he released a debut album entitled ‘More Like Myself’ available on Spotify and iTunes, and was named NY-1's Pick of the Week for his hit show at Joe's Pub. He was a proud member of the Johnny Mercer Songwriting Project.
Blake has collaborated and written songs with Celisse Henderson. Celisse is now playing with Grammy Winner Brandi Carlile. Co-produced his debut album with Jeffrey Lee Campbell of Sting. Collaborated with prolific song mixer Adam Hawkins on multiple songs. Adam has worked with songwriter Regina Spektor and producer Mike Elizondo. Blake also collaborated with songwriter Roseanne Cash in a lyric workshop. He is scoring a new film entitled ’Two Toed Punch’.
Blake produced, directed, and played in his own music festival at Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. Collaborating with six different choreographers from ballet to hip-hop, a string quartet and jazz sextet, Blake created a unique fusion of music and dance.
Partnering with the Parks and Recreation department in Portage, Michigan, Blake conceived the idea of "Hike To A Concert". This event was an active music immersion experience encouraging exploration, adventure, physical movement, and offering the deep rewards of wild nature and live music combined. "Hike To A Concert" happened summer of 2015 and 2016. Over 250 folks hiked to the event.
Blake was selected as a Musician in Residence at The Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada. He spent four weeks collaborating with musicians from around the world and cultivating his project, “Capturing the Spirit and Soul of Banff”.
As an educator Blake has taught master classes at Denison University and Kalamazoo College, lecturing on songwriting, acting, voice, and the demands of being a sustainable artist in New York City. He has worked at Interlochen Arts Camp, NYU, Oakland University and more. He has taught widely around the United States as a teaching artist. He received his Masters in Songwriting at NYU Steinhardt and was also awarded a diversity and inclusion award at NYU for work being proactive against racism at NYU.
Blake’s finest creation to date is his daughter Kya (9) and son Haven (5).
